Detroit, Michigan – Fresh off of a dominant 4-1 win over AFC Ann Arbor on Saturday evening, Detroit City FC is back on the road this evening to take on Midwest United FC in the USL W League with kickoff scheduled for 8 PM at the Midwest United FC Complex in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Le Rouge will be looking to carry Saturday’s impressive four-goal display into their Tuesday night trip as they hold out in third place in the Great Lakes Conference standings, behind Kalamazoo FC and Flint City AFC, having played two fewer games than both clubs.
Midwest United FC comes into Tuesday’s encounter having played only four matches to a record of 1-2-1.
Both of their losses this season have come against the current division leaders, Flint City AFC. Midwest United FC began their season with a 2-1 loss at home to Flint City on 5/17 before earning their first win in their second match away to Cleveland Force in a gritty and close 1-0 contest.
Last season saw Midwest United finish second in the Great Lakes Divison, beating out Racing Louisville FC to second place by two points, still ending the season nine points behind divisional champions Indy Eleven.
Midwest United defeated Detroit City FC in both matchups by a 3-1 scoreline on both occasions last season. They are coached by Joe White and will look to turn around their fortunes as matches begin to come thick and fast for them.
Both clubs will face a short turnaround following the match this evening as they will meet again just three days from now at Keyworth Stadium with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 PM on Friday, June 9. Tickets are still available for Friday’s return fixture and can be found at this link.
